Bilal Hossen is a PhD candidate within the Precision Agriculture, Hydrology & Geoinformation Science Laboratory at the University of Sydney. His doctoral research focuses on soil health indicator modelling, specialising in the use of hyperspectral remote sensing to estimate and monitor soil organic carbon. Driven by a passion for leveraging cutting-edge tools to support data-driven decision-making, Bilal is dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural practices and improving soil stewardship. His diverse academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Bangladesh Agricultural University and a Master of Environmental Sciences completed in Japan.
Research
Integrating remote sensing technologies with machine learning techniques for the assessment and monitoring of soil health indicators
This thesis investigates the integration of hyperspectral and multispectral remote sensing technologies with machine learning techniques to assess and monitor soil health indicators across Australian agricultural landscapes. The study focuses on predicting key soil properties, including soil organic carbon and other soil health attributes, using hyperspectral remote sensing combined with advanced modelling approaches.
